Labeling extraBiblical speculation
We need to be careful because we're responsible for what we teach
I’ll be one of the first to admit that many of these extraBiblical speculations are exciting. However, excitement is a fleshly thing—soulish at best. For those of us with extensive experience in the Lord, we have learned that being excited is risky, on the edge of dangerous. In truth, it is one of Satan’s favorite tools. Perplexity just gave me the following definition:
Excitement is a noun that refers to a strong feeling of eagerness or anticipation, often accompanied by increased energy, heightened emotions, or nervous stimulation. It can be triggered by something new, thrilling, or pleasurable, such as an upcoming event, a surprise, or an adventure. [Ed: like a pulsing, thunderous rock concert & light show?]
The only mistake AI made was that it included enthusiasm. I agree that the world uses that word in this definition. But I would encourage you to define enthusiasm by its Latin origins: en theos or in God. By that understanding I categorize enthusiasm as a Godly or spiritual experience of worship. Enthusiasm and joy are the believers’ spiritual equivalent of the fleshly heathen excitement. I’ve also been using the Christian GotQuestions AI beta. When I ask about excitement there, their AI search just gets lost in the “thinking…” response.
So what’s the big problem?
I hope you can see, as I do, that we are well on our way to the Great Delusion talked about in 2 Thessalonians 2: 9–12:
The coming of the lawless one by the activity of Satan will be with all power and with pretended signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are to perish, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends upon them a strong delusion, to make them believe what is false…
I’ve already written in several places that one of the main uses of AI during these final days is its ability lie convincingly. Deep fakes are no joke. I have been watching with disgust as the world has become consumed with lies. Our spiritual enemies are well into making evil into good and good into evil. Woke religiosity is just basic emotionalism.
If you want to see better what is coming, all you need to do is prayerfully examine the propaganda machine developed by Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran. Right now, Hamas is telling us that the IDF is shooting the poor hungry people as they try to get food. Iran is pushing how they won the 12 Day War over both Little & Great Satan. Riiigghht…
What are these extraBiblical speculations?
I want to be very careful here. I do not want to get into casting aspersions on my brothers and sisters who are serious about teaching these things. But in general, there are huge theories expressed about what Jesus meant by “as in the days of Noah”. All the discussion about the Nephilim, Babel, aliens, hybrid humans, corrupted DNA, and so on are based on sources from outside the Biblical canon.
Notice, I am not saying that these ideas do not have merit. I am saying that they are not scriptural. I agree that something along these lines of reasoning being taught will take place. But, we need to label these ideas for what they are. Most of the self-described Christians are very confused at this point. They’ll assume these things are in the Bible.
Look at the bitter wrangling about something which has solid Biblical proof like the pre-tribulation rapture. I am convinced of that position by scripture and the Holy Spirit. But many good brothers and sisters in the Lord strongly disagree—with their own differing Biblical proofs.
The Lord has told me many times that we will all be surprised by how it actually happens in reality. He has said, “Remember how many understood my birth as a man.” That number is barely above zero before Jesus’ public ministry began. There were a few Kings and shepherds, plus two godly prophets at Jesus’ circumcision. And that largely remained true until Jesus fulfilled Shavu’ot, or Pentecost, by sending the Holy Spirit. As we all know, the Truth of the Gospel can only be truly understood by the Holy Spirit.
Consider that in the US today, less than 5%, or maybe 3%, of Christians in America even have a Biblical world view. Our spectator religion with many questionable truths proclaimed by idolized superstar leadership has gotten the church into deep trouble. Simply labeling extraBiblical teaching for what it is will help quite a bit. At least, I hope so.
Also: What's coming technologically is speculative also. We have no idea what will make it into reality in time. A lot of it is taught as "the sky is falling".
Concrete article. We must rely on the Scriptures and nothing outside of the Scriptures.
G-D Bless, you, brother.
