The Image of God became a man and lived among us. He died to redeem Man, and was resurrected as The Messiah
And Mankind had not a clue.
Mankind finally got a glimpse of the plan of the Father. But they didn’t understand. They certainly had no idea its enablement came in the gift of the Holy Spirit for those who believe.
But then came Shavuot!
In the new covenant foretold by Jeremiah, the giving of the Torah was replaced by the giving of the Holy Spirit on what we Gentiles call Pentecost. But as the crucifixion fulfilled Passover, or Pesach—Pentecost fulfilled Shavuot. The Torah was written on our hearts, taught and explained by the Holy Spirit.
No one had any idea how radical the change was until Yeshua got Saul’s attention on the way to Damascus. I thank the Lord for Paul and the other writers of the New Testament. I’m especially looking forward to meeting the writer of Hebrews. He or she had some excellent and unique insights. It is a mind that thought differently from any of the other writers. The idea that Jesus was perfected, matured, made complete, by His suffering is a treasure to me. And the definition of scriptural milk is a real help. But I digress.
Man can now choose to be reborn
After repentance from sin, Man, as an individual, can now choose to know and love the Messiah.
Elohim had to be pleased: the plan was working.
It’s hard to imagine the joy of the 120 on Shavuot, when the Holy Spirit came inside them and began teaching them. All the stuff they never understood, when Jesus was there with them, was now clear as a bell.
•I am• had created, and enabled, men and women to be united with Him in love. Three thousand were added to the Bride that first day. Yet, they were separate from His being. They loved the Messiah intentionally. Now the Father had a people he could adopt as His children, relate to as friends, and love. And we believers are those people.
Almighty God’s goal was to get Man to a place where He could justifiably cause an individual to be born of God
That place is only found by faith in Yeshua Messiah. Once a person made that choice, Almighty God could cause him or her to be reborn and fill him or her with His Holy Spirit. With them, He would be One, as He, the Messiah, and the Holy Spirit were One.
These people, separated from Him, had chosen to be with Him and love Him. This is what Jesus prayed for, in His priestly prayer, just before He was Killed. That is where He learned the radical difficulty of obedience and was made perfect—mature and complete.
The Holy Spirit and scripture explain this clearly:
In the time between creation and now, His Holy Spirit anointed Man to write the scriptures. They provide a resource from God where we learn about Him. They show us how to come to a personal knowledge of God, by personally turning to Yeshua Messiah. This is the Mystery of God, the Spirit of Messiah within us. The Spirit enables us to respond and be open to •I am•. Our hope of glory.
But, institutionalized Christianity shut it all down
There were three massive errors in doctrine which made the church powerless, only a political power. I consider them all heresy. But the many of you are probably a victim of one or more of these errors.
Supersessionism: This is the belief that the Church replaced Israel. It’s heresy straight from the pit of Hell. The Gentiles are grafted into the Jewish people. When the Messiah comes back, He will sit on the seat of David and rule the Kingdom of Israel. I am overjoyed to be part of that.
Amillennialism: I got this from GotQuestions.org This heresy sees the millennium allegorized as spiritual and non-literal, as opposed to a physical reality in our soon coming life on the planet. Although the prefix a- would typically signify a negation of a word, the amil position sees the millennium as “realized,” or better explained as “millennium now.” Amillennialism is basically described as the belief that the “millennium” is a present, spiritual reality, not a future, literal 1,000-year earthly reign. Sadly, this allegorized anti-Biblical view is dominant in the Church at large. My experience is that most who believe this are not reborn, and therefore barely saved—if they are saved at all. Many are going to be very surprised when Jesus pulls out the church, and Daniel’s final seven years begins.
Cessationism: Here’s Wikipedia page. This is a shameful heresy promoted in the Reformation to prevent the power of the Holy Spirit from having any place in the church. It teaches that Jesus has changed and no longer gives the Holy Spirit in power (which is anti-Biblical, at best). I could get very angry here about this [mostly Reformed and Calvinist] doctrinal assault on the Church, but it would serve no purpose. If you are born again and make it to the Bema seat in heaven with the rest of the Bride, you are going to be very surprised. Zzziiippp the lip! (That command was directed at me.)
The Church was effectively disempowered [or disemboweled]
These three heresies rendered the Church spiritually powerless even after the Reformation and the Great Awakening. For example, seminarians who were taught these lies were used to shut down the Haugean Lutherans which God sent to bring life into the Lutheran church. Hans Nielson was Baptized in the Holy Spirit in 1796—but few saw that. My ancestors were Haugean, and what happened is clear when you study about Hans and the history of the movement.
It is still a major problem among evangelicals, in general. The Holy Spirit was pushed to the side with the rise of the institutional church. He wasn’t allowed back in until the 20th century—and most of the church is still fighting that fact. I regularly find myself in tears, listening to preaching in Calvary chapels. They teach that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is still valid—but it has no place in their daily lives. They don’t even understand why they are basically powerless in spiritual warfare.
I regularly hear people say that we need to get back to Acts.
I agree. And what is that? It was a time when the Baptism of the Holy Spirit was the norm. Everyone was using the gifts of languages, knowledge, wisdom, discernment, and prophecy, plus the miracles and healings.
I think you know that I do not consider miracles or healings to be very important in long term effects. They’re fun, exciting, but they rarely bring lasting change to the person who receives them. They are an enjoyable part of a transformed life which results from offering yourself as a living sacrifice and getting your mind renewed [Romans 12:1-2].
Miracles and healings bring nickels and noses, but rarely do they result in radically reborn lives. However, they are much more effective than being led through a sinners prayer.
A transformed life begins with total repentance and ends with being a bondslave of Yeshua Messiah. As John the Baptist told us, Yeshua Messiah came to baptize us with the Holy Spirit and with fire. He still does it if you ask.
Elohim used those 1600 years to prepare us
Prepare us? For what? …the same level of spiritual warfare fought during the first couple hundred years of the Church. If you haven’t noticed, the demonic presence is back in force throughout the world. Many see that “as in the days of Noah” includes all the evils of the fallen angels. There is a strong possibility that when the Restrainer is removed, and the Bride is called home, the aliens will show up. Since they don’t really exist, the world will get the demonic impersonators—and the world will go ga-ga. This may be the Great Delusion, which God will allow.
In fact, it took another fifty years after Azusa Street before the presence of the Holy Spirit was established at a level which could help Israel’s return to their land. It was so important, that the Lord enabled the Charismatic Renewal to transform many of the chosen frozen in the mainline Protestant churches during the sixties and seventies. It’s the reason why Pentecostal believers are now the second largest church group, after the Roman Catholics.
The Church, as a whole, solidly renounced all of this. Which in turn allowed less mature spirit-filled preachers to panic into transforming the quiet power of the Holy Spirit into massive Hollyweird productions of Deliverance Ministry—live and on-stage. We also have aberrations like prophets going on nationwide or global tours. These people may or may not know the Lord.
Regardless, it is unbecoming. Yeshua’s meek, loving servants don’t act like that—in the same way that Yeshua was constantly trying to keep those reactions from exploding and compromising His ministry. He was constantly telling people to not say anything. They all thought He was coming as King.

So, what’s the big deal?
The Holy Spirit terrifies Satan and his minions. If you recall, before ministering in spiritual warfare I recommend softly praying in the Spirit. This private prayer language given to those who are empowered by the Spirit will tell you what you are dealing with [if there are demons involved or not, what kind of demons they are, and how to deal with them in this instance].
It’s not unusual for demons to scream in pain when you begin praying in the Spirit [your prayer language]. You can just tell them that they are not allowed to manifest in your presence. You do not need to raise your voice. Screaming at demons is a sure sign of immaturity and/or fear.
Remember, there is a good reason why the word Spirit is capitalized in the second major weapon of the Ephesians 6 armor—praying in the Spirit. We are told to pray in our private prayer language so the Holy Spirit can show us what is going on spiritually. Be aware when Spirit is capitalized in scripture. You see this throughout the New Testament.
Gifts of supernatural knowledge or wisdom can greatly expedite your ministry to people in spiritual difficulty. They commonly bring breakthroughs as you minister to sheep led to you for help.
Supernatural discernment can reveal demons, liars, dangerous enemies, physical and/or spiritual attacks, and whatever you need to know. The Holy Spirit will show you trouble and how to deal with it.
The baptism of the Holy Spirit is given to enable you to walk in the Spirit through the world in effective power. It’s not necessarily an emotional thing. How does Yeshua treat you? Does he scream and get emotional? No. He loves you. That’s what the Holy Spirit provides in your life—if you let Him.
All you need to do is ask Jesus to baptize you in the Holy Spirit. He will—instantly. It will work better if you begin by asking the Holy Spirit to show you all your sin, so you can get yourself cleaned up with repentance. Jesus will help you. You will find that your prayer language usually shows up when you are lost in worship and simply run out of words. For me, I was singing in worship while walking home from work. I just slipped into the complete freedom of Spirit-led lyrics and melodies. It’s wonderful—just between you and the Lord. It’s incredible joy in a congregation of hundreds of believers.
